Bruno Contenotte Biography
Bruno Contenotte, stage name of Bruno Facchini (San Giorgio di Mantua, 29 April 1922; Milan 14 April 1992) His family members are of noble origins but have been working as farmers for some time and hope that he too will join them in the business family farm. In the meantime he studied astronomy, philosophy, physics, chemistry and electronics, but his talent for machines was evident and he began to invent and register many patents (including that of the first call alarm). The call of art began to make itself felt and he attended the Brera Academy, deciding in 1952 to dedicate himself fully to it with what he defined as "technical things", "strange machines and various contraptions". In the meantime he cultivated his passion for judo, opening the first judoka school in Milan, the Jigora Kano, in 1956. 1956 was the crucial year of his entry into the world of art when during the Mostra del Blu at the Galleria Apollinaire he met the gallery owner Guido Le Noci, the French art critic Pierre Restany and Ives Klein to whom his passion for judo binds him. Both masters of the martial art, the two begin a fruitful dialogue with Klein who shows him an artistic alternative in full Spatialism. He died on 14 April 1992 in Milan.
