Maurizio Corona was born in Biella in 1953. He attended the Brera Academy in Milan. In 1973 he began his artistic activity. In 1977 there was the first significant photographic exhibition at the Kulturhuset in Stockholm “Christmas trees on Christmas night”. In the 70s Corona was in Milan and shared the experience of the artists and intellectuals of that historical period. The 1978 exhibitions at the Gallerie Il Diagramma, Milan and Forma, Genoa were significant; Paludetto, Turin and Wallner, Malmo followed in 1980. The exhibition at Studio Grossetti in Milan made him known to the public, and he went to Rome. The most significant meeting of his young career took place here, the one with Fabio Sargentini who reopened the historic gallery, the Attico. He presented an exhibition in 1983 during which he met Achille Bonito Oliva. He collaborates with Luigi de Ambrogi and Franco Toselli. The metropolitan formation closed to him and so he moved to Corneliano on the Adda. Corona later left for even more isolated shores, landing in Domsjo in Sweden. Despite having left his world, he feels extremely close to his origins, to his horizons. In this new artistic season he continues to work on places of nature, virgin and immaculate for millennia. He currently lives and works between Sweden and Italy in Bioglio in the Biella area.
