Ernani Costantini (1922 - 2007) was born in Venice and graduated in 1942 from the Carmini Art Institute. Ernani Costantini (1922 - 2007) was born in Venice and graduated in 1942 from the Carmini Art Institute. From the end of 1942 to 1945 he served in the military and participated as a volunteer in the War of Liberation in the "Legnano" Division attached to the 5th US Army, going up the peninsula from Mignano-Monte Lungo (south of Cassino), of which he was an honorary citizen. up to the Apennine front, to the famous Gothic Line. Since 1952 he has staged around fifty personal exhibitions in Venice, the Veneto, Milan and Rome. In 1980, a vast anthological exhibition of around 100 works was held at the San Vidal Art Center in Venice in which he presented the biblical cycle "Song of Songs" consisting of sixteen paintings, almost all of which are now dispersed in various collections. He took part in exhibitions and prizes in Italy and abroad and won numerous of them, among which we should mention: Cassa di Risparmio di Belluno prize (1952), prize from the Municipality of Venice at the "Burano prize" (1956), 2nd prize at the exhibition National "Pellizza da Volpedo" (1958). In 1985 he was involved in the creation of the biblical cycle "From Eve to Mary" which was exhibited in 1987 at the Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista, in the same year at the Salone della Gran Guardia in Padua and the following year in the monumental Palazzo della Gran Guardia in Verona on the initiative of the Culture Department of that Municipality. In 1988 he dedicated himself almost exclusively to the pictorial interpretation of Venice with views and moments of life in the city. Forty paintings from this series are presented as part of the "Vivere Venezia" event organized by the Scuola Grande di San Teodoro. Ernani Costantini has carried out an intense activity relating to sacred art with a large number of works, including more than a few of impressive dimensions.
