Félix Courché, born April 20, 1863 in Paris and died March 22, 1944, was a French painter of the Symbolist movement. He studied under Louis Loir and Léon Bonnat at the National School of Fine Arts. During the years from 1885 to 1900, Courché exhibited his works at the Salon des Artistes Français and from 1902 at the Salon des Indépendants.
The French painter, known for decorating many villas with monumental frescoes representing scenes that combined symbolism and abstraction, used very bright colors such as red, green and yellow.
Until twenty years ago, Courché was a little-known artist, but buyers found archives in a house with drawings and letters testifying to his life for the period from 1915 to 1939. Most of Courché's works, about a hundred , have been distributed among private collections since 1975.
Félix Courché died in Paris on 22 March 1944.
