Gaetano Cresseri was born in Brescia on 30 April 1870. From 1893 Cresseri dedicated himself to large decorative works, in close collaboration with his brotherly friend Arturo Castelli. The meeting with the artists and patrons of "Arte in famiglia", an association founded in Brescia in 1876, was fundamental for his first artistic education.
In addition to his incredible prolificacy of works, Cresseri must be recognized for his constant and passionate study of the various pictorial techniques. Very careful in his "preparation", he was a methodical and tenacious worker, fervent in the conception, often with a symbolic background, of the subjects, ardent in their drafting into large frescoes or large oil canvases.
In 1907 Cresseri was appointed member of the University of Sciences, Letters and Arts of Brescia. In 1909 he participated in the International Exhibition of Fine Arts in Rome.
Cresseri died in Brescia on 17 July 1933, while he was working on the fresco decoration of the parish church of Nave.
