Zifan Cui Biography
Cui Zifan was a Chinese artist born in Laixi county, Shandong province, in 1915. Since he was a child, he cultivated a passion for calligraphy and painting, but his family did not have the means to purchase the necessary materials. In 1940, Cui studied at the Yan'an Political and Military Academy, and then attended the Yan'an Party School. In 1956, he was the general secretary of the Beijing Qi Baishi Painting Academy and honorary president at the time, who became his friend and encouraged him to paint.
Cui has exhibited his works in many countries, including Russia, Sweden, the United States, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong and Japan. He founded the Cui Zifan Art Museum in Qingdao, together with the city of Laixi. Cui Zifan passed away at the age of 96 in 2011, leaving behind a significant and widely appreciated artistic legacy in Chinese culture.
