Domenico Cunego (Verona, 1724 or 1725 – Rome, 8 January 1803) was an Italian engraver. He probably studied under Francesco Ferrari and began his artistic career as a painter, producing several works, which have been lost or are otherwise unidentifiable. At 18 he approached the engraving technique as a self-taught person and the engravings he made on Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel, published in the Schola Italica Picturae (1773) by Gavin Hamilton, were an important source for the artists of his time. Cunego is relevant not only for the reproductions of the paintings of his fellow villager Guido Reni and other contemporary Italians such as Antonio Balestra and Francesco Solimena but he also worked with British artists who came to Italy for the grand tour. These include Gavin Hamilton's cycle of six works on the Iliad and David Allan's work, Origin of Portraiture.
