Claudio Da Firenze Biography
Claudio Domenici was born in Florence in 1943. His father, Carlo Domenici, was one of the most prominent artists of the 20th century Labronica School, a group of Macchiaioli artists who reached their artistic and professional maturity between 1900 and 1950 Claudio took on the pseudonym "Claudio da Firenze" to distinguish himself from his famous father, who was his first teacher and recognized his talents for drawing and painting, encouraging him to pursue an artistic career.
After attending the Art Institute of Florence and the School of Graphics, Claudio worked as a poster designer and graphic designer before starting his career as a painter. His first exhibitions and competitions were very successful. Claudio possesses a free spirit and his training and gradual evolution as an artist are rooted in his innate "traveller" spirit, which led him to intensely experience different places, savoring the different colors and moods and transferring them onto his canvases .
Since 1968 Claudio has participated in numerous exhibitions both in Italy and abroad. Among the most important are the personal exhibitions held in Spain in Madrid, Barcelona, Gerona and Lloret de Mar, as well as those organized in the United States in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, at the Zantman Gallery in Palm Desert or Carmel, where his paintings are permanently exhibited in London and Lugano.
Claudio's favorite subjects are scenes of life, whether rural or maritime. What matters is the possibility of observing them and "living" them, trying to discern their deepest emotions, thoughts, joys, worries, loves, everyday life. For an artist like Claudio who has traveled a lot, trying, almost always succeeding, to integrate into the customs and rhythms of the places and people he encounters, even the exploration of the past takes on contemporary tones.
When Claudio explores a social phenomenon such as immigration, he does so with pleasure and with the pleasure of retracing the "sentimental and emotional DNA" of the people who were protagonists, aware that these experiences represent the roots of the subsequent evolution of that social phenomenon nucleus. Proudly maintaining the imprint of the Labronica School in an excellent fusion of personalities - Claudio is tenacious, strong and difficult - instinctivity, creativity and expressiveness that allow him to masterly tackle different subjects. All these qualities certainly make Claudio da Firenze one of the most important artists of contemporary figurative painting, not only in Italy, but also in Europe and in the world.
