Ferdinando Del Basso (1897 - 1971) was a painter born in S. Agata dei Goti, Benevento, in 1897 and lived in Naples. He studied at the Institute of Fine Arts in Naples together with Giuseppe Aprea and Mario Borgoni. He made his debut in 1923 at the exhibition for the "Fanciullo d'Italia" in Rome and held his first solo exhibition in the Bottega d'Arte in Naples in 1945. At the same time as his intense pictorial activity he carried out that of a critic, founding the National Antijury Movement in 1950 and of the Supporters of Free Art, staging his first exhibition and publishing the periodical “Arte Libera”. He is a traditional portrait and landscape painter. In 1939 he exhibited the painting "Study of objects" in Naples at the 9th edition of the Interprovincial Art Exhibition of the Fascist Fine Arts Union of Campania, an exhibition in which he participated again in the 12th edition of 1942 with the painting "Still Life".
