Francesco De Matteis (1852-1917) Neapolitan sculptor, resident in Naples, has exhibited some of his very expressive bronze statuettes in many of the recent exhibitions, and very appreciable for their liveliness and movement. In Turin, in 1884, he had: "Una paroletta" (gruppetto) and other "Figures" owned by Mr. Matteo Schilizzi of Naples; at the Promotrice of Florence another statuette: "A Bulgarian" which he exhibited in 1887 and 1888. In Venice, in the last national exhibition held there were the following works: "A Santa Lucia"; "Bulgarian Costume"; "La Canzone Napoletana", and "Toreros".
