Francesco De Mura (1696 - 1782) He was a pupil of Domenico Viola, a follower of Mattia Preti, and later moved to the workshop of Francesco Solimena, soon becoming his favorite pupil. An exponent of Rococo painting, he was able to give his paintings a formal richness and a narrative impetus worthy of the best Neapolitan eighteenth century. He frescoed churches and palaces, including the Royal Palace of Naples and that of Turin. De Mura, in 1782, bequeathed all the works and sketches placed in the "Picture Gallery" together with other assets to the Pio Monte della Misericordia in Naples.
