Romolo Del Bò was born in Pavia in 1870 and died in Milan in 1936. From his childhood he showed a notable aptitude for drawing and sculpture, so at the age of twenty he enrolled at the Brera Academy. His debut as an artist took place in 1891 in Brera, where he began to regularly participate in exhibitions, both in Milan and especially at the Venice Biennale.
From his first works, the young Del Bò's tendency to simplify plans and use a synthetic formalism, characterized by elongated figures full of strong spiritual tension, was highlighted. At first, these figures remained linked to the realist framework and the theme of the social question, while later they seem to have been inspired by Symbolism.
Romolo Del Bò died on 21 November 1936 in Milan.
