Gérard Deschampes (Lyon 1937) Artist enrolled in the Nouveau Réalisme movement. Self-taught, he prefers the galleries of the rue de Seine to painting academies. His works are the result of a work in continuous search for renewal. Upon his return from the Algerian War, he turned towards the use of women's underwear. These works were the subject of many scandals. Marked by his military experience, Deschamps in 1961 immersed himself in his past in order to overcome his testimony about the war. In 1970 he left Paris to retire to Berry. This does not preclude, however, that he remains a strong personality in the New Realism movement. Since 1986 he revisits his art: fluorescent colors, textures with new clothes on the theme of surfing, beach balls.
