Desiderio Biography
Desiderio is an artist born in Milan in 1978. He currently lives and works in the province of Terni. In 2008, it won the Italian Factory Award and reached the final of major awards such as the Cairo Award in 2012, the SESIFF The 3rd Seoul International Extreme-Short Image & Film Festival (Korea) and the AZYL film festival One World One Minute (Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary) and others.
For many years, Desiderio traveled between Italy and Cuba. He participated in the 54th Venice Biennial in the Cuba Pavilion and in two editions of the Havana Biennial in 2012 and 2015. In 2015, he participated in the 4th Biennial of the End of the World in Valparaiso (Chile).
He has held personal and collective exhibitions in Italy and abroad, including Berlin, Hubei Museum China, Hitabashi Art Museum in Tokyo, etc. In 2009, he participated in the collective exhibition Apocalipse Wow! at Macro Future in Rome.
Desiderio's interdisciplinary work is contaminated by multiple languages, performative interaction and a particular interest in video and direction, so much so that he has been defined as "a director who paints". In 2017, he closed the Beauty Hazard cycle at the CAOS Museum in Terni and in the same year he presented Nirvana at the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan. In 2019, he created Malebolge inside the former church of San Michele Arcangelo in Amelia, a project dedicated to Dante Alighieri's Inferno from the Divine Comedy which anticipates the 700th anniversary of his death (1321-2021).
