Martino Di Brtolomeo da Siena (1389-1434) He was one of the main painters of the Sienese school of his generation and was active as a painter and gilder of manuscripts between 1389 and 1434. From his style it is believed that he learned the pictorial art in study by Taddeo di Bartolo (1362-1422). As a young man Martino collaborated with Giovanni di Pietro da Napoli (active in the years 1402-1405) in Pisa. The fresco in the Oratory of San Giovanni Battista in Cascina, about 10 kilometers from Pisa, is the work of Martino, and dates back to 1398. He returned definitively to Siena in 1405 where he created several frescoes in the Cathedral and in the Palazzo Pubblico.
