Angelo Di Tommaso Biography

Angelo Di Tommaso is an artist born in Formia in 1953. In the 1980s he attended the Accademia del Cimento and subsequently the Roman school under the guidance of maestro Carlo Marcantonio. Since 2006, his works have been present in the bio-iconographic archive of the Gallery of Modern Art in Rome and are classified AC: High Critical Interest in the Catalog of Modern Art published by Giorgio Mondadori (Milan). Di Tommaso is also a member of the Movimento degli Arcani, with whom he has exhibited in Italy and the United States.
In November 2012, the artist's works, dedicated to human rights and inspired by Martin Luther King, were exhibited at the UN Gallery. Di Tommaso's painting is described as sensual and grainy, and represents archaic landscapes with elegant figures characterized by a deep gaze. His artistic style is linked to the tradition of the Great Masters, and often pays homage to artists of the past such as Picasso, Magritte, De Chirico, Gauguin and Canova.
Angelo Di Tommaso's technique is original and involves the use of acrylics and oil pastels applied on plywood, polypropylene or canvas bases. He also uses various types of material interventions, and each work requires multiple phases of creation.
