Vito Difilippo was born in Monopoli in 1988, in a seaside town. The arid and endless expanses of the Tavoliere, the boundless blue of the sea and the immensity of the Apulian sky constitute the starting point of his artistic production. The artist's journey is made up of research, passion and experimentation that began in adolescence. Far from academicism and thanks to his self-taught training, he tried his hand at Pop-Art, Conceptual Art, Art Brut up to Informal Art. Analyzing Difilippo's work, we observe how decisive the influence of those artistic currents is which from the 1950s onwards have moved the narrative axis from the outside to the inside of the human being. On the basis of this, the centuries-old representational tradition already put into crisis in the early twentieth century before the return to order is perceived as apathetic; the spectator's enjoyment of the work itself changes from passive to active. The initial iconic investigation carried out by our artist is therefore disconnected from the desire for mimetic reproduction of reality while it is configured as a necessary starting point for delving into the hidden meanders of one's own ego. The structural synthesis unraveled on the canvas is a clear manifestation of a profound attention towards a visual semantics in which the concept is the real protagonist of his works.
