Francesco Paolo Diodati was an Italian painter born in Campobasso on 8 September 1864. As a child he had an inclination for the study of music but at the age of twelve he visited an exhibition at the Promotrice Salvator Rosa in Naples and from there he decided to dedicate himself to painting. Francesco Paolo Diodati was an Italian painter born in Campobasso on 8 September 1864. As a child he had an inclination for the study of music but at the age of twelve he visited an exhibition at the Promotrice Salvator Rosa in Naples and from there he decided to dedicate himself to painting. He then attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples and made his debut in 1882, presenting two works to the promoter Salvator Rosa: "Impressione dal vero" and "A reflection in my studio". While in Genoa he presented the painting "Waiting". His oil and pastel paintings range from genre scenes to seascapes and almost always present a suspended atmosphere. The painter also dedicated himself to portraits of notable pictorial fluency. He assiduously participated in the Neapolitan exhibitions until 1911 and also in those of Turin, Rome and Genoa. He died on December 24, 1940 in Naples.
