André Adolphe Eugène Disdéri (Paris, 28 March 1819 – Paris, 4 October 1889) was a French photographer, he filed the patent for the "photo-carte de visite" in 1854. According to this process eight clichés could be made on the same glass plate creating small images (5.2 cm X 8.7 cm) which were subsequently glued onto cardboard the size of business cards. André Adolphe Eugène Disdéri (Paris, 28 March 1819 – Paris, 4 October 1889) was a French photographer, he filed the patent for the "photo-carte de visite" in 1854. According to this process eight clichés could be made on the same glass plate creating small images (5.2 cm X 8.7 cm) which were subsequently glued onto cardboard the size of business cards. The photographer's name was printed under the photo. This technique allowed the production cost of each photograph to be reduced, making it more economically accessible and therefore more popular.
