Walt Disney Biography
Walt Disney, born in Chicago in 1905, spent a difficult childhood helping his father on the Missouri farm and delivering newspapers with his brother after moving to Kansas City. Even as a child he had a talent for drawing and sold his sketches to neighbors.
At eighteen, he moved to Hollywood with his brother Roy to seek his fortune. In a few years, thanks to the creation of comic series such as Alice in Cartoonland, Oswald in the Lucky Rabbit and above all Mickey Mouse, he achieved success. In 1928, he made the first sound cartoon, and in 1929 he founded Walt Disney Enterprises to manage the use of his creations on derivative products.
Successful new productions followed, such as the first color cartoon Flowers and Trees and the first animated feature film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937.
During World War II, in collaboration with the government, he produced educational short films for the military. He later made short anti-Nazi war propaganda films, such as Donald Duck in Nutziland, which won an Oscar in 1944.
In 1955, Disneyland opened, the first theme park ever opened in the world. The park, located 30 kilometers from Los Angeles and divided into five different thematic sectors, has become an obligatory stop for millions of visitors from all over the world.
Walt Disney died in 1966, leaving an empire valued today at $150 billion. His creativity and talent have given millions of children and adults the opportunity to dream with his stories and characters, which have become eternal over time.
