Pietro Dodero, born in Genoa on 30 October 1882 and died in his hometown on 16 February 1967, was an Italian painter and engraver. He trained first at the Ligustica Academy of Fine Arts and then at the Munich Academy. Later, he came into contact with the artistic-cultural environment of Turin, where he had the opportunity to learn about Symbolist ideals. Pietro Dodero exhibited several times at the Ligurian Society promoting fine arts and at the Venice Biennale. A multifaceted artist, among his activities there are woodcut, fresco technique and mosaic technique in his not negligible activity as a decorator. For example, he used mosaic to decorate the interior of the palace of the Foro Italico in Rome. During the First World War, he participated as an artillery officer. His war experience was a source of inspiration for him, far from any form of social commitment.
Pietro Dodero died in Genoa on 16 February 1967.
