The painter, decorator and ceramist Giacomo Dolcetti was born in Venice in 1893 to a wealthy family. In 1921 he opened a factory for the production of artistic ceramics, based in Venice, called "Bottega del Vasaio". In the twenties and thirties it produced ornamental plates, boxes and vases decorated with Venetian architecture and ladies in eighteenth-century dresses bearing the brand "Botega del potter Giac Dolcetti in Venetia Bela/ in Riva di Biasio and the monogram "GD" on the sides of the bow of a gondola and under the writing Venetia Giacomo Dolcetti dies in 1957
