Elco Biography
ELCO, a world leader in gas, solar and heat pump technology, has demonstrated its innovative spirit for over 90 years. The company's history began way back in 1928 with the founding of E.Looser & Co. by Emil and Elsa Looser, in Switzerland. Since its market debut with the first vacuum tube solar collector in 1975 and the first open flame burner in 2003, ELCO continues to set ever higher standards in its industry.
After being acquired by the Italian Ariston group in 2001, ELCO found a solid partner for sustainable growth both nationally and internationally, offering customized heating solutions. Over the years, the company has successfully expanded, consolidating its leading position in the sector.
ELCO's history demonstrates how success is the result of a constant search for innovation and an ability to adapt to market needs. The desire to grow and offer increasingly cutting-edge products has led the company to be a point of reference in the sector of combustion and solar technologies.
In 1906, in Duisburg, Peter Klöckner founded a company specializing in the iron and steel trade together with his brother Florian. Klöckner & Co. later arose from this company. In 1928, the company E.Looser & Co. was founded in Vilters by Emil and Elsa Looser, who immediately hired 25 employees. In 1930, production of the first fuel oil burners began in Vilters, with products also being exported to Belgium and Sweden.
During the Second World War, from 1939 to 1945, a serious shortage of fuel oil arose, causing a sharp decrease in demand for burners. In response to this critical situation, production was quickly switched to the production of air stoves and woodworking machines. Only at the end of the world war was it possible to resume the production of oil burners.
ELCO's history is therefore characterized by continuous evolution, adaptation to market conditions and customer demand. Thanks to a constant commitment to innovation and the quality of its products, the company has managed to establish itself as a point of reference in the sector, both nationally and internationally.
