Fabio Fabbi (Bologna 1861 - Casalecchio di Reno 1945) Initially trained at the Bolognese Academy, at the end of the Seventies he was among the students of the Florence Academy. Despite an encouraging debut as a sculptor, his artistic activity was mainly oriented towards illustration and painting. Starting from 1886, a series of trips to Egypt and the Mediterranean basin brought him closer to the themes of orientalist painting which characterized a substantial part of his production, also appreciated internationally and accompanied by the execution of works on religious subjects. The remaining resources of his artistic commitment are absorbed by the illustration of a large number of volumes: from literary classics to Salgarian adventure novels, to children's stories. Appointed professor at the Academy of Florence in 1893, from the following year he was also among the Bolognese academics.
