Luis Ricardo Falero Biography
Luis Ricardo Falero (1851 - 1896) was a very talented Spanish artist who showed a strong interest in chemistry from a young age, a theme that was reflected in his works through the use of quotations and symbolisms taken from alchemy .
In addition to chemistry, the artist developed a passion for astrology and magic, often using symbolic and iconographic references in his painting. The subjects usually addressed by Falero are female nudes, represented as timeless odalisques with sensual tones. In the painting presented in the catalogue, created in his youth, an unreal, almost magical sensation emerges, thanks to a static and essential landscape and a precise and harmonious application of colour. Falero, born into a noble family in Granada, was a romantic artist who took inspiration from the classical tradition, but explored the mythological, literary and oriental themes typical of European romanticism. Having studied in Richmond in Great Britain and completed his artistic learning in Paris, he left an indelible mark on the history of Spanish art.
