Maria Pia Fanna Roncoroni Biography

Maria Pia Fanna Roncoroni (1925 - 2018) was born in 1925 in Milan, where she began to dedicate herself to art at the School of Arturo Colombo and Mario Vellani Marchi. After an international education, which saw her continue her studies in Switzerland and Argentina, she settled in Treviso in 1950. Cosmopolitan in culture and inspiration, she was called by galleries and museums all over the world to participate in group exhibitions or to organize solo exhibitions, from Rome to Vienna, from Milan to Buenos Aires, from Düsseldorf to Paris, from Lisbon to New York. Constant presence at the various editions of Arte Fiera in Bologna, he brought his performances to the Petit Palais in Paris and his works to the Venice Art Biennale (1995; 2017). Non-conformist and ready to join personally in initiatives that she feels are urgent in the cause of human rights, she is a pioneer in the artistic field in expressing the urgencies of the fight for the recognition of greater rights for women: tra LUILEI, a sign-symbol full of meaning , the labyrinthine paths of the Labyrinths, the silence of the Silent Books pierced by sharp nails, the irony of the Mail Art sheets and the vivid indignation of Muta Protesta, the artist searches and returns, beyond the horrors and ugliness that poison the world, the beauty that life is, however and always, capable of generating.
