The Swedish company Ericsson has shown interest in the telecommunications sector by installing Gottlieb Piltz on the board of directors of FATME. Piltz, former president of Ericsson until 1922, helped consolidate the Swedish company's interest in FATME. In the 1990s, Ericsson gradually increased its shareholding until it completed a full takeover of the company, which was later renamed Ericsson FATME. After the merger with Sielte in January 1994, the company took the name Ericsson Teconomia SpA
An important milestone achieved by Ericsson occurred in 1931, when the company introduced the first desk telephone made of Bakelite in Sweden. The innovative design of this model influenced the design of all landline telephones that were developed in the following decades. In Italy, it was Ericsson-FATME who introduced this type of telephone onto the market.
