Cesare Ferreri was born on 31 March 1802 in Pavia. From a young age he demonstrated an interesting pictorial talent, becoming Garavaglia's favorite pupil. During his apprenticeship, Ferreri was also able to attend courses at a nude school. In 1823, despite attending school, he obtained some important commissions from Count Vidoni of Cremona for the volume "Le pitture cremonese illustrata", published the following year in Milan. After dropping out of school, he worked tirelessly for other publishers. In 1833 he took up the post of director of the Gravaglia school. Among the teaching material used by Ferreri for the school, there are some rare engravings, including a series of print tests that show his working method and burin reproductions of works such as "L'Assunta" by Guido Reni and "La Virgin and Child with St. John" by Raphael.
In October 1854 he resigned from the direction of the school for health reasons and finally died in Pavia on 13 November 1859.
