Copley Fielding, also known as Anthony Vandyke Fielding, was born on 22 November 1787 in Sowerby. He was an English painter famous for painting watercolor landscapes. Fielding lived much of his life teaching the art of painting, which allowed him to earn a lot of income. In 1824 he won a gold medal at the prestigious Paris Salon. Copley Fielding was highly regarded by art collectors for his great refinement and elegance in painting. He created a wide variety of works, including his famous marine scenes, while also using other techniques, such as oil. His works are preserved in the most important British museums, including the Victoria and Albert Museum.
Copley Fielding died in March 1855 at Park Crescent in Worthing.
