Lorenzo Filomeni Biography
Lorenzo Filomeni (1978 - ) was born in Turin in 1978. For reasons relating to his father's work he moved to Rapallo in 1982, the following year he returned to the Piedmontese capital. At the age of twelve he settled with his family in Milan, where he concluded his studies by graduating in law. Self-taught artist since 2000, student in Milan of Nino Mustica and Gregorio Mancino, he currently lives and works in Marina di Pietrasanta (Lu). Precisely from 2000 to 2007 he experimented extensively with various materials and in 2007 the cycle of rusts on canvas began. Lorenzo Filomeni's artistic research is based on the appropriation of waste materials such as Ruggini which, when applied to the canvas, take on an aesthetic and pictorial value, explosive vibrant and material surfaces where the monochrome and sometimes iridescent color shines through from the surfaces treated with a spatula. The research on matter extends to sculpture with the Studio filters series, assemblies of unsmoked cigarette filters, spherical and amorphous sculptures in search of a space-non-space. He has participated in both collective exhibitions (Piaggio Museum Pontedera, Fondazione Pablo Atchugarry Uruguay) and personal ones (Galleria Tempio arte Pietrasanta, Galleria Brandi Arte La Spezia, Aretusa Arte Pietrasanta, Albemarle Gallery London, Cerruti arte Genoa). His works are present in international private collections (Spain, Holland, Germany, Switzerland) Fondazione Pablo Atchugarry, Punta del Este (Uruguay), Piaggio Museum, Pontedera (Italy), MACIST, Biella (Italy).
