Giovanni Battista Filosa, born in Castellammare di Stabia in 1850, was an Italian landscape painter. He studied at the Academy of Naples and later in Rome.
He was a landscape painter, his watercolors are characterized by a high descriptive quality and mainly represent genre scenes and compositions of eighteenth-century costume.
After returning to Naples, he presented landscapes and rural subjects at exhibitions in Turin, Rome, Venice and Naples until the early years of the century. Read the full biography

After returning to Naples, he presented landscapes and rural subjects at exhibitions in Turin, Rome, Venice and Naples until the early years of the century. In 1902, he was named honorary professor of the Neapolitan Academy. Filosa died in 1935 in Resina, Naples.
