Gianfranco Fini Biography

Gianfranco Fini was born in Rome in 1936. From a young age he showed a great interest in the fine arts, also influenced by his father, a painter himself. He attended art school in Rome and, at the age of eighteen, spent a year in Paris to further his artistic studies. Subsequently, he returned to Italy to join a group of young artists of his generation who were gathering around the avant-garde movement known as the Piazza del Popolo School. In 1975, Gianfranco Fini participated in important European competitions, such as the Italian Pavilion at the Osaka fair, the European Investment Bank in Brussels and the Luxembourg Music Academy. Furthermore, in 1975 he collaborated with his sculptor friend Mario Ceroli at the Venice Biennale, presenting an installation and performance project. In the 1980s, together with the artists Renato Mambor and Cesare Tacchi, he organized a series of important artistic events in Rome, at the Teatro dell'Orologio and the open-air theater in via Sabotino. In 1976, he independently founded Studio Fini Architettura. After having created numerous residential urban planning projects, theatrical and cinematographic scenography, industrial design and interior decorations, Gianfranco Fini began to specialize in tourism development, in the design of resorts and tourist ports. After some time, in collaboration with his daughter Nicola, also a graduate in Rome, he started the project for the Casa de Campo Marina in 1996. Recently, he founded Studio Fini Design, a division of Studio Fini Architettura, which deals of interior design.
