Christian Fjeradingstad Biography
Christian Fjerdingstad was born in Denmark in 1891. After completing an apprenticeship with a goldsmith, he opened his own workshop but the First World War broke out. He then decided to join the Foreign Legion, but due to a wound he was discharged in 1915. After his discharge, he settled in Fontenay-aux-Roses, near the studio of Fernand Léger, who convinced him to participate in the exhibition at the Salon d'Automne in 1921. There, his success was immediate. In 1924, he began his collaboration with the Christofle company. It uses materials such as boxwood, amber, coral, ivory and rhinoceros horn and enhances them through geometric volumes and smooth surfaces, combined with an exceptional sense of purity of lines.
