Vincent Fotre Biography
Vince Forte was born in 1901 and pursued a career as an electrical engineer, manager and director of engineering. However, he has recently had a second career as a fine art oil painter. Vince has been a professional artist since 2013, but has been painting for four decades. While he earned several engineering degrees, his artistic education was shaped in the studio. Vince was significantly influenced by the artistic training of his father, Vincent Forte, Sr., a famous sculptor whose bronze and stone works can be found in public places and museums in the Albany, New York area. He also studied with Louis Pelky, a well-known fine art painter specializing in skies and seascapes, who in turn had studied with Emile Albert Gruppe. Vince completed his art studies with Joan Lord, a well-known oil painter and author who had studied with Helen Van Wyk. Vince Forte's oil paintings are now in collections in seven states and Canada, including two churches in New York State. He has won numerous awards for his oil paintings and has conducted demonstrations for local artists. In addition to oil paints, Vince has used gouache, watercolors and digital painting mediums. Additionally, he has worked on public bronze sculptures and received the Medal of Honor for two of them in Albany in 2017. In 2018, he was a judge for the City of Albany/Ferris Coin Medallion competition. Vince is a co-leader of the Schenectady Art Society, on the board of the Colonie Art League, and a member of the Albany Artists Group, Plein Air Adirondackers, and the Portrait Society of America.
