Edoardo Franceschini Biography

Edoardo Franceschini (Catania 1928 - Varese 2006). He spent his youth developing various interests, some of which were artistically oriented. At twenty years old he was in Florence and to survive he practiced the most disparate professions. At the same time he enrolled and attended the Academy of Fine Arts. The literary and artistic ferment of the early fifties stimulated his restless and curious character and determined an eclectic education, ready to grasp new stimuli in the experimental field. In 1954 he designed and created his first important scenography for the Greek Theater of Syracuse. His passion for stage takes him to Rome where he collaborates on sound stages and as an assistant to various set designers. In 1956 Milan became his adopted city. His pictorial activity will see him as the protagonist of personal exhibitions and important international exhibitions. In 1964 he participated in the XXXII Venice Biennale. Attracted by everything new, he begins a series of journeys from one continent to another, attentive to other cultures, which lead him to formulate an increasingly magical, almost quintessential, deliberately "beyond" language.
