Franco Bettonica & Mario Melocchi Biography
Franco Bettonica, born in Milan in 1927, was an Italian architect who began designing when he was still a student. He has successfully carried out activities in the construction, furniture and industrial design sectors. In 1969, together with Mario Melocchi, he founded Cini&Nils, as both designers felt the need to present their projects directly to end users.
Several objects were created, many of which were acquired by the MoMA in New York, including bar, table and desk collections, as well as the Revolving Magazine Rack, the Cubobar and the Game Table. In 1972, from Franco Bettonica's idea, Cuboluce was born, a combination of objects and lighting fixtures that marked Cini&Nils' entry into the lighting field and gave rise to a new generation of products.
