Franco Frangi Reale Biography

Milan, 1933 After studying at the Brera Academy in Milan and as an art teacher under the guidance of Maestro W. Pinardi, he undertook projects in the field of interior architecture, applying himself to the production of designer objects and carpets on an industrial scale . He made his debut in 1952 at the National Exhibition of Independent Artists held at the Royal Palace in Milan. Already from 1950 he examined various theories and pursued various pictorial experiences until reaching his first purely abstract-geometric works in the second half of the 1960s. Mario Radice curated two solo shows for him, the first in 1964 at the Caravella Gallery in Como, followed by the one in 1969 at the Pianella Gallery in Cantù. In 1966 he participated in the Contemporary Art Exhibition at Palazzo Reale, Milan and was invited for a solo exhibition at the Woodstock Gallery in London. In this period he began research in the field of plastic materials and the study of environmental space, creating the "habitable cell" in 1969. The work is presented at the Galleria Diagramma in Milan directed by Luciano Inga Pin; at the Pianella Gallery and the municipal space of Gallarate, Varese, curated by Paolo Manfredini. He founded and directed "Incontri d'arte" and "Art Studio", Publitype editions, Milan, also collaborating with the magazine "D'Ars Agency" directed by Oscar Signorini.
