Milan, 1902-1995. He began painting in the 1920s as a self-taught artist. In 1935 he began to frequent the Borgonuovo Gallery in Milan and the artists who gravitated around it. The first solo exhibitions were held in the same gallery in 1942 and 1943. He became director of the gallery between 1945 and 1947. In 1952 he was awarded the Vado Ligure, Suzzara and Lissone prizes. In 1957 he founded the Galleria delle Ore in Milan and decided to no longer exhibit his works. A figure of great importance for the critical development of the realist current, in the years in which he directed the Borgonuovo Gallery, he created the center around which the first nucleus of Milanese realist artists would gather (Brizzi, Tettamanti, etc.), and collaborated on the magazine " Realism". At the beginning of his artistic activity he dedicated himself to a modest art, painting family themes and Lombard landscapes. Since the 1940s he has carried out themes of social commitment, typical of realism - factories, processions of workers, workers - producing works characterized by a balanced architectural structure, on which the color is spread uniformly. In the early 1950s he began to paint nudes and rural landscapes in which shapes and colors are treated in a soft manner.
