Arnold Gara Biography
Arnold Gara, born in Budapest on 25 February 1882, specialized as a painter, engraver, graphic designer and ceramist. After a short period of study at the School of Applied Arts, Gara began exhibiting his work starting in 1905.
Gara's most significant work are his engravings, created using the "dotted" technique. Furthermore, Gara was also very active in the production of posters, book covers, jewelery and ceramics.
In 1926, Gara published "Hungarian Parnassus", a collection of engravings containing illustrations of the poems of Hungarian poets. Furthermore, he has organized numerous group exhibitions at the Ernst Museum.
However, Arnold Gara's tragic fate occurred on August 19, 1929, when he committed suicide in his home.
