Salvatore Garau was born in Santa Giusta (Oristano) in 1953.
after an academic and figurative beginning, at the end of the 1980s he developed an evocative, passionate and romantic language, in a "liquid" style where dams, pylons and conduits drawn in graphite are often protagonists of the composition.
In 1974 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, three years later he was invited to Milan by Stormy Six, a leading avant-garde rock group, with whom he held over a thousand concerts throughout Europe, as a drummer. Following the first official exhibition in Milan, since 1984 he has dedicated himself exclusively to visual art, in particular painting and video art, exhibiting in numerous collective and personal exhibitions in galleries and museums around the world.
In 2005 he painted a 200 square meter painting on a recycled PVC advertisement for a car manufacturer as a provocation for environmental protection, exhibiting it wrapping a building in the center of Milan.
