Alessandra Galante Garrone (1945 – 2004) was an actress and dancer, graduated from Jacques Lecoq's École de Théâtre. He held seminars in the city neighborhoods on behalf of the Cooperativa Nuova Scena and in 1976 he abandoned his acting activity to dedicate himself full time to teaching. Thanks to an agreement with ATER he established his theater school in the building in via D'Azeglio which houses the La Soffitta theater and which was formerly home to the Ospedale dei Bastardini. In 1980 he published Finding Your Own Clown with La Casa Usher, the basic text of his method on acting techniques. Over the following decades, the Bologna Theater School would train generations of actors and theater workers, initiating collaborations with the Municipal Theater and various other academies and theaters in Europe. In 1984 it was recognized by the Ministry of Tourism and Entertainment and in 1990 it became a Professional Training Course of the Emilia Romagna Region (European Social Fund). The activity will continue even after the early death of its founder in 2004.
