Bruna Gasparini Biography

Bruna Gasperini (1916 – 1998) born in 1916, was a painter born in Mantua but Venetian by adoption. In fact, she arrived in the lagoon city in 1937, still very young. In the 1950s she was one of the historical protagonists of Venetian Spatialism together with Bacci and her husband Luciano Gaspari with whom she shared a long and happy artistic and life partnership. Various exhibitions and successes followed, so much so that he won a particular Mariotti Prize at Palazzo Grassi in Venice. He will exhibit abroad and throughout Italy. The paintings of this spatial season stand out in the poetic search for sound, light, bright colours, then moving on to dark colours, barely illuminated by flashes. The gouaches with which the artist was selected to participate in the XXV Venice Biennale are dedicated to Baudelaire in the 1960s. He exhibits twelve works in the room set up by Carlo Scarpa. The 70s are marked by an almost surrealist turn, by a form of "pictorial fairy tale" where his art manifests itself in a magical suspended world. Companions of this period were the poets and friends Ezra Pound, Eliot and the beloved Joyce, to whom he dedicated thirty-three paintings inspired by "chamber music". Recent works starting from the nineties are dedicated to the natural cycles of the Seasons, to their most intense moments of light. He died in 1998.
