Emilio Gentilini, born in 1940 in Montecchio, is a painter and photographer who in 1965 became part of the working group that referred to the American photographer Robert Emmett Bright. Moved by a profound urgency, Gentilini decides to dedicate an entire year of his life to the realization of a project centered on the historic Roman district of Trastevere. In this area, the squares and streets are crowded with people and their miserable work tools. The city is still lived in the common sharing of spaces and daily and festive rituals. Gentilini observes and portrays, with irony and personal lightness, a Rome busy and frenetic in various activities. Many of the images focus on sociability and religiosity, but also on free time spent outside the home.
