Cinzia Ghigliano Biography
Cinzia Ghigliano (Cuneo, 14 July 1952) is an Italian cartoonist. Cinzia Ghigliano is one of the rare Italian comics authors. He began his career as a cartoonist in 1976 on the pages of the monthly Linus. In 1978 her work allowed her to obtain the prestigious Yellow Kid award, in Lucca, as "best Italian author". Together with Marco Tomatis he gives life to several characters, including Isolina and Lea Martelli (the latter was, in Italy, the first example of a serial comic published in a high-circulation women's weekly, Amica). In 1984 she created Solange, a character that would also give her notoriety abroad, particularly in the French-speaking world. He will collaborate with various magazines including Corriere dei Piccoli and Snoopy. At the same time he will do "comic dissemination" with Slow Food, the Italian Touring Club, the Observatory for Road Education and Safety and the Italian Office of the European Parliament. In the field of scientific dissemination he obtained, together with Luca Novelli, the Andersen Prize in 1986. He also developed the profession of illustrator in publishing for children and teenagers, obtaining the Gigante delle Langhe Prize in 2004. His works are exhibited in the Comics Museums of Brussels, Angoulême and Lisbon. As a painter she has created works based on the poems of Cesare Pavese, Ignazio Buttitta and the songs of Fabrizio De André. In 1978 he won the Yellow Kid award as best Italian author.
