Gino Gini was born on 16 August 1939 in Milan, where he lives and works. He attended the Artistic High School and the BBAA Brera Academy in Milan. His artistic research ranges from an initial figuration, cages, interior-exterior, to a "translated" figuration, the Fruit Basket by Merisi (Caravaggio). Since 1976 the transition towards new situations: narrative art and visual poetry. He is considered one of the pioneers of Mail Art in Italy and one of the most significant artists of the recent evolutions of visual poetry. In 1983 he created the Artist's Book Archive - Laboratorio 66, Milan. He was present at the 36th Venice Biennale in 1976, in the "Environment as social" sector.
