Antonio Gionima Artwork valuations, appraisals and auction estimates

Antonio Gionima, born in Venice in 1697, came from a family of painters. He was soon transferred to Bologna, where he trained first in the workshop of Aureliano Milani and later in that of Giuseppe Maria Crespi.

Antonio Gionima, born in Venice in 1697, came from a family of painters. He was soon transferred to Bologna, where he trained first in the workshop of Aureliano Milani and later in that of Giuseppe Maria Crespi.
During the following years, Gionima became active in the churches and brotherhoods of Bologna, as well as for the major families of the city. The artist tried his hand at creating multi-figure scenes with an extremely theatrical flavour.
Gionima died in Bologna on 17 June 1732 and was buried in the parish of San Tommaso del Mercato.
