He was born and studied in Naples, at the Institute of Fine Arts. His teacher was Antonino Leto, from whom he inherited his love for the island of Capri, where he would spend his whole life. The island of Capri remains his main source of inspiration also in landscapes, but maritime still lifes of fish, mussels and octopus are also frequent, as are stealing landscapes that portray the heart of Naples. However, he travels a lot to Venice and Paris.
