Gianfranco Giorni (1948 - ) was born in Anghiari, in the province of Arezzo. Since childhood, Gianfranco has shown particular sensitivity for shapes and colors. He currently lives and works in Anghiari (AR) in his laboratory-studio "L'acqua viola", where he models and casts sculptures. Already a teacher of plastic disciplines at the Sansepolcro Art High School, he exhibited for the first time in a solo exhibition in 1973. Since then he has carried out an intense activity as a painter and sculptor. Many of his works are found in public spaces such as: "Implorazione", in terracotta engobed in the lunette of the basilica of S. Domenico in Siena; Bronze “Prison” in the Sansepolcro memory park; “Player” for the Contrada del Liocorno museum in Siena; “Minerva” for Piazza Risorgimento and for the Banca Etruria headquarters in Arezzo; bronze door of the exhibition hall of the State Superintendence of the same city; “Quali Colombe” for the Garden of Memory in Anghiari. In 2010 “Calliope and the Laurel” is the official trophy of the “PEN club Italiano” literary prize. His artistic production has appeared in various publications and specialized magazines.
