Gustavo Giulietti Biography

Gustavo Giulietti trained at the Art Institute of Lucca where he learned the love for the perfection of techniques and the politeness of language from the master decorators of the villas of Lucca. He then enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, where he became a teacher and held the first Chair of Painting for his entire life and was Director in his final years. His path is that of an attentive and cultured militant of the contemporary world and of a man inspired by strong values of moral commitment and tireless work. For a long time, from 1968 he was director of the historic artistic editions of "Il Bisonte", transforming them into a hotbed of experimentation and meetings where he worked alongside artists such as Heny Moore, Alexander Calder, Graham Sutherland, Lynn Chadwich, Lipchiz. At the beginning of the Sixties he produced successfully, with intellectual dignity and in unsuspecting times. of conformism à la mode, a group of works of clear Informal ancestry of which he will be among the most important representatives in Florence together with Alberto Moretti. The success of the period was due to the affirmation of the reflective and contemplative moment of creative work, with works of a more intellectual and cold inclination to be related to the climate of Pop Art, of "advertising realism".
