Giulio E Archimede Guerrieri Biography

In 1930 Giulio Guerrieri, coming from Castelli a few years earlier, took over the premises of Fondamenta A. Navagero 76, on the island of Murano in Venice, of the former "ICAM" and founded the "Guerrieri Ceramiche Murano" factory, starting a production of ceramics of Good quality furniture and tableware sold at reasonable prices. In 1934 he called his brother Archimede, an expert decorator, to work at the factory and in 1937 the company took the name "Giulio e Archimede Guerrieri". Production was significantly slowed down by the war events but in the first post-war years it restarted and so did the third brother. Alfonso joins the company. In 1963 Giulio died and his place was taken by his son Mario, in 1964 Alfonso died and the following year the factory was forced to close. The company's production consists of everyday and furnishing objects and decorative majolica panels made in modern and traditional styles, as well as ceramics with a rustic flavor and copies of antiques. Among the most important collaborators of the factory we remember: Umberto Bellotto, Giuliana Bogo, Giuseppe and Novello Rosso, Umberto Soldà and the well-known painter Emilio Vedova.
